Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply when you use our services or buy from us
Last updated: June 2026
1. About us
This website and our services are provided by JMTechNI, a tech repair and custom-build business operated by Jason McClenaghan and based in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean JMTechNI, and "you" means the customer. You can reach us using the details in section 13.
By asking us to carry out work, buying a product, or using this website, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
2. Our services and products
We provide computer, laptop and console repairs, upgrades, custom PC builds, diagnostics and related services, and we sell hardware and refurbished devices. Descriptions, specifications and prices are provided in good faith and may change. Where a product is refurbished or used, its condition is described as accurately as we reasonably can.
3. Quotes, estimates and approval
- Estimates are based on the information available at the time and may change once we examine your device. We will let you know if the cost is likely to differ from any estimate before carrying out further chargeable work.
- A diagnostic or assessment fee may apply and will be made clear to you in advance.
- We will not carry out chargeable repairs without your approval. Quotes are valid for the period stated on them.
4. Prices and payment
- Prices are in pounds sterling (£). We are not currently VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
- Payment for repairs is due on completion / collection unless we agree otherwise in writing. Invoices are normally due within 14 days.
- We accept the payment methods shown on your invoice. Goods and devices remain our property until paid for in full.
5. Your device and your data
- Back up your data. Please back up your files before handing a device to us. While we take care, repairs and upgrades can sometimes result in data loss, and we cannot accept responsibility for losing data you have not backed up, except where the loss is caused by our negligence.
- By asking us to work on a device, you confirm you own it or are authorised to instruct repairs, and that the software on it is properly licensed.
- We may need device access details (e.g. a PIN or password) to test our work; these are handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
6. Guarantee on repairs
Repairs and custom builds include a 90-day guarantee as standard. Where a different or extended period applies, it is stated on your invoice or job record. A guarantee covers the specific repair carried out and does not cover new, unrelated faults, accidental damage, liquid damage, or issues caused by third-party work after we return the device. This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights.
7. Your rights when buying goods and services
As a consumer you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Services we provide will be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Goods we supply will be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If something we supply does not meet these standards, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund as appropriate. See our Returns, Refunds & Cancellation policy for how to put things right.
8. Cancellations and returns
If you bought from us online or by phone (a "distance" sale), you may have a 14-day right to cancel. Returns, refunds and your cancellation rights are explained in full on our Returns, Refunds & Cancellation page.
9. Collection of repaired items
Please collect your device promptly once we tell you it is ready. We will remind you and hold items as long as we reasonably can. Items left uncollected for more than 90 days after we notify you they are ready may be sold or disposed of to recover our costs, after we have made reasonable attempts to contact you, in line with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.
10. Our liability
We will carry out our work with reasonable care and skill. Our liability for any loss or damage arising from our services or products is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant service or product, except that we do not limit or exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. We are not liable for loss of data you have not backed up (see section 5) or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
11. Privacy
We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy and the use of cookies as set out in our Cookie Policy.
12. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, please tell us as soon as you can using the contact details below and we will do our best to put it right. We aim to acknowledge complaints quickly and resolve them fairly. If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider, and you retain the right to take the matter to court.
