Phone batteries wear out — it's normal. After a couple of years of daily charging they hold noticeably less than when new, and eventually the phone becomes a slave to the charger. The good news is a battery replacement is quick, affordable, and makes an otherwise good phone feel new again.
Tell-tale signs your battery is worn out
- It drains fast — you're topping up by lunchtime when you never used to.
- Sudden shutdowns — the phone dies at 20–40% even though there's "charge" left.
- It gets hot — noticeably warm while charging or during light use.
- Slow or stuck charging, or the percentage jumping around.
- The phone feels sluggish — some phones deliberately slow down to cope with a tired battery.
How to check on your phone
On an iPhone, Settings → Battery → Battery Health shows a "Maximum Capacity" figure — once it's dropped into the 80s or lower, a replacement makes a real difference. Many Android phones show similar battery information or you can tell from the signs above.
What a replacement involves
I fit a quality replacement battery, tested and sealed back up properly, usually the same day. Your phone holds a full charge again and stops the surprise shutdowns — covered by a 90-day warranty. Prices by model are on the phone screen & battery replacement page.
If the screen's seen better days too, it's worth doing both together — here's how to decide on a cracked screen. Book a repair or get in touch to get started.
